Bloomsburg briefly halted the run when Austin broke through with an unassisted goal with 4:51 remaining in the half, but Shippensburg responded with three more late goals to extend its lead to 12-4 at halftime.
The Huskies regrouped in the third quarter and mounted their strongest offensive stretch of the afternoon. After Shippensburg pushed the lead to nine early in the period, Fox converted a woman-up opportunity off an assist from Sitko to spark a Bloomsburg rally.
Austin followed moments later with a goal from
Katie Fry (State College, Pa./State College Area), and Kroniser added another unassisted tally to trim the deficit to 14-7. Fox struck again during the run before Simpson capped the surge with a goal off Sitko's second assist of the game, bringing Bloomsburg within 14-9 with just over five minutes left in the quarter.
Shippensburg answered before the end of the period with two late goals to slow the Huskies' momentum and take a 16-9 lead into the fourth.
