Softball Takes Game Two in Tightly Contested Doubleheader Against Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Bloomsburg softball team wins game two against Lock Haven in a tightly contested doubleheader.

Jenna Kaufman (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) was the difference maker for the Huskies as she hit a clutch RBI single to give the Huskies the win in game two. Becca Varhula (Philadelphia, Pa./School Lane Charter - IB) impressed as she picked up her fifth win of the season and did not allow a single run in game two.

Allie Wenrich (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) hit her 14th home run of the season in game one, ranking second in the entire Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in homers.

Game one - Bloomsburg 1, Lock Haven 3

Wenrich homered to put the first run on the board in the top of the fifth, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The Bald Eagles scored in the bottom of the sixth and both teams went into the final inning with a tied game.

The Huskies were unable to score in the top of the inning, and quickly got two outs while on defense. Bloomsburg faced heartbreak once more as the Bald Eagles hit a walk-off two-run homer to end the game 3-1.

Game two - Bloomsburg 1, Lock Haven 0

The Huskies struck first again in this game starting with Taylor Kranzley (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) getting walked. Alizabeth Schuler (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) singled on a bunt and put Kranzley in scoring position. Sydney Thompson (Karthaus, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) reached on a fielder's choice which advanced Kranzley even closer to home base. Kaufman rewarded Kranzley with a run by hitting an RBI single to left field.

Varhula, facing a potential doubleheader sweep, pitched a shut out and kept ahold of Bloomsburg's one-run lead. The game ended 1-0 in the Huskies' favor, splitting the doubleheader.
