MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-8 decision at Millersville on Saturday afternoon in the 2026 regular-season finale at Chryst Field.
Bloomsburg (5-12, 3-9 PSAC East) showed early control and offensive balance, with six different goal scorers and a three-goal effort from
Brianna Austin (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), but a decisive third-quarter run by Millersville (6-10, 4-8 PSAC East) proved to be the difference.
The Huskies opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest as
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) finished a feed from
Alexis Guzylak (Corning, N.Y./Horseheads) for a 1-0 lead. Millersville responded quickly, tying the game at 1-1 before Bloomsburg regained the advantage on a goal from Austin off a Stressman assist. The Marauders answered again with back-to-back goals to take a 3-2 edge, but Austin struck in the final minute of the quarter, converting a pass from
Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) to even the score at 3-3 after one.
Millersville opened the second quarter with a free-position goal to move back in front, 4-3, but Bloomsburg responded with a 3-0 run to seize its largest lead of the game. Guzylak tied the score on a free-position attempt,
Samantha Keck (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) followed with a finish off an
Emily Gauker (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) assist, and Austin completed her hat trick with an unassisted goal to give the Huskies a 6-4 advantage. The Bloomsburg defense forced multiple turnovers during the stretch, helping maintain control heading into halftime.
The third quarter shifted momentum decisively. After Bloomsburg held a 6-5 lead early in the period, Millersville scored three goals in a 1:16 span late in the quarter to flip the game from a tie to an 8-6 Marauder advantage. The Huskies were held scoreless in the frame despite generating opportunities.
Millersville carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, scoring twice in the opening minutes to extend the lead to 10-6. Bloomsburg continued to battle, with
Kendall Kroniser (St. Michael's, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) converting a free-position attempt to cut the deficit to 10-7. After a Millersville man-up goal pushed the margin back to four, Sitko added a late unassisted goal for the Huskies, but the rally fell short as the Marauders secured the 11-8 win.
Austin led Bloomsburg with three goals, while Sitko added a goal and an assist along with a team-high eight shots and seven ground balls and four draw controls. Stressman and Guzylak each recorded a goal and an assist, and Keck and Kroniser also found the back of the net.
Emily Graham (Wantagh, N.Y./St. Anthony's) made five saves in goal for the Huskies.
Reiley Knize (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) had three draw controls for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg finished with advantages in shots (29-20) and ground balls (28-23), while forcing 24 Millersville turnovers, but was unable to overcome the third-quarter surge.
The Huskies finished the season 5-12 and 3-9 in conference play. Sitko led the scoring for the Huskies this season with 52 points behind 37 goals and 15 assists while Austin was second on the team with 34 points (22 goals, 12 assists).
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) finished the year with a team-high 76 draw controls while
Sophie Mellman (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood) had 19 caused turnovers. Stiko and Graham led the team with 39 ground balls.
Graham finished the year with 116 saves and a .344 save percentage.
