BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Following a successful soft launch at the annual John S. Devlin Golf Outing, Bloomsburg Athletics and Turkey Hill Brewing Company are excited to announce the official public launch of Husky Lager, a custom craft beer created to celebrate Bloomsburg Athletics and the Husky community.
The collaboration serves as a pilot program between Bloomsburg Athletics and Turkey Hill Brewing Company, designed to create new opportunities for fan engagement while celebrating the traditions and pride of the Maroon and Gold.
The official launch will take place on Tuesday, June 16, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Turkey Hill Brewing Company, where fans, alumni, and community members will have their first opportunity to enjoy Husky Lager on tap during a special launch party. Following the launch on June 16, Husky Lager will remain on tap at Turkey Hill Brewing Company for anyone 21+ to enjoy indefinitely.
"We are excited to officially launch Husky Lager and continue growing our partnership with Turkey Hill Brewing Company," said
Dr. Michael McFarland, director of athletics at Bloomsburg. "The response at the John Devlin Golf Outing showed just how much enthusiasm there is for this project. Husky Lager is a unique way to bring our alumni, supporters, student-athletes, and community together while showcasing a great local partner."
Husky Lager was developed in collaboration with Turkey Hill Brewing Company as part of a broader effort to strengthen community engagement and create new opportunities to celebrate Bloomsburg Athletics traditions and alumni connections.
"We are proud to partner with Bloomsburg Athletics on this exciting pilot program," said Andrew Pruden, Innkeeper and Proprietor of Turkey Hill Inn and Brewing Company. "The debut at the Devlin Golf Outing was a tremendous success, and we are thrilled to officially put Husky Lager on tap for the public. We look forward to seeing the community embrace this beer both at Turkey Hill and at Bloomsburg Athletics events throughout the year."
As part of the pilot program, Husky Lager will be available for purchase throughout the fall at home Bloomsburg football games in a specially designated area on the concourse at Redman Stadium. The beer is also expected to be available for retail purchase in cans at Turkey Hill Brewing Company later this summer.
The June 16 launch party will feature complimentary samples and appetizers, while supplies last, and provide an opportunity for supporters to celebrate the newest addition to the Bloomsburg Athletics family.

About Turkey Hill Brewing
Founded by Innkeeper and Proprietor Andrew Pruden, Turkey Hill Brewing Company was created as an extension of The Inn at Turkey Hill, transforming a historic 1839 bank barn into a welcoming brew pub and gathering place for both visitors and the local community. Despite the original barn being destroyed by a windstorm during renovations, it was carefully rebuilt to preserve its historic character and heritage. Today, Turkey Hill Brewing Company has become a regional destination known for its handcrafted beers, casual dining, live entertainment, and commitment to creating memorable experiences for travelers, locals, and craft beer enthusiasts alike.
About Husky Athletics
The Bloomsburg Department of Athletics serves 799 student-athletes and 23 teams annually who perform at the top of the conference academically, athletically, and within their community. Bloomsburg's student-athletes are perennial leaders in community service within the Mid-Atlantic Region as each team is involved in department-wide and team-led community service initiatives.
As a department, Bloomsburg competes primarily in the NCAA Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with 12 other PASSHE institutions and five private universities. The wrestling team competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
History of Roongo
On October 9, 1933, the student body of then Bloomsburg State Teachers College voted nearly unanimously in favor of adopting the husky as the school's first official mascot. Proposed by art professor and avid husky trainer George J. Keller as the ideal mascot because of his noble qualities, an actual husky donated by Keller made his first appearance at a pep rally on October 13. Named Roongo after a combination of maroon and gold, the first mascot proudly served in his role, sporting a blanket adorned in the school's colors.
