SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's soccer team could not overcome first-half setbacks in a 3-1 defeat on the road to Shippensburg Wednesday evening.

The Huskies (3-2) found themselves with an ultimately insurmountable 3-0 deficit in the first half against the Raiders (1-0-2).
Owen Hollobaugh (State College, Pa./State College) knocked in a consolation goal for Bloomsburg in the 65th minute from an assist by
Drew Hollida (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake).

How It Happened:
Despite a few early corner kicks from the Huskies to generate early offense, Shippensburg was the side willing and able to get its shots off in the beginning stages. That assertiveness reared its head on the home side's first corner kick of the match. A looped ball from the corner flag found Nate Herb at the near post, with the Raider heading it into the top left corner for the 1-0 advantage.

The deficit grew to 2-0 in the 32nd minute and quickly compounded into 3-0 by the 38th. Zac Slevin doubled the home lead with a strong near-post finish off the half volley, while Herb doubled his individual tally with his second headed goal of the match.

Needing to emerge from a sluggish start, Bloomsburg sought to find anything on the pitch to reinvigorate its chances for a comeback. The glimmer came from play recycled from a corner, with Hollida dribbling past several would-be-tacklers to get a cross off toward the six-yard box. Skipping off the ground and in front of the goalkeeper, Hollobaugh was able to clean up and put away a tidy finish to chip into the gap.

Despite outshooting Shippensburg 10-0 and having a 4-1 edge in corner kicks in the second half, the Huskies could only muster one decisive chance on net, proving not to be enough by the final whistle.

The Huskies continue their road stretch on Saturday, September 12, with a trek to Lock Haven for a 3:00 p.m. matchup against the Bald Eagles.
