SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Bloomsburg volleyball team fell in four sets on the road to Shepherd Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies (7-7, 0-4 PSAC East) tied the match at a set apiece against the Rams (13-1, 4-0 PSAC East) but ultimately could not keep pace with a host side hitting .387 for the match.
Katie Kuehl (Aston, Pa./Archmere Academy (Del.)) paced the Huskies on Saturday with a team-high 12 kills, while hitting .310 overall.
Lena Jones (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) followed behind with eight kills on the day, and
Sasha Moody (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) from the outside recorded a team-best 10 digs to go with five kills.
Abigail Eagler (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) and
Jessica Rimbo (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) combined for seven service aces in the match.

How It Happened:
Bloomsburg remained in line with division-leading Shepherd through the beginning of the first set. The Huskies remained in touching distance, tied at 10-10 and only trailing by one at 11-12. Eagler settled Bloomsburg into the match with back-to-back service aces as Rimbo got several of the Huskies involved through the early proceedings. The Rams proceeded to flip the proverbial switch in the opening set, closing on a 13-4 scoring run to make an early statement in the contest.

Despite the host's early display, Bloomsburg responded by claiming the second set and evening the match at 1-1. The Huskies would claim an early 5-3 edge before a 5-0 run by Shepherd saw the home side retake the lead. Bloomsburg chipped away at the early deficit, answering the attempts from the Rams to pull away. Even in the face of a two-point hole, the Huskies rattled off a 5-0 run to claim a 21-18 advantage. Rimbo laid claim to the late surge in the second set, registering two consecutive service aces after subbing back in and setting up the next four Bloomsburg points that followed before
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) sealed the second set with an ace of her own.

Shepherd did not take kindly to the Huskies' efforts to get back in the contest, once again showcasing a strong offensive output to clinch the final two sets and the match. The Rams finished the night with just three attacking errors between the third and fourth sets, rattling off 27 kills. Kuehl managed four kills in the fourth set in an attempt to buoy Bloomsburg's cause while the Bloomsburg middle rotation of Jones,
Sophie Wales (Port Matilda, Pa./State College), and
Lydia Worthing (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood Antis) sought to keep the Huskies in contention in the early stages of the fourth set.

On the Horizon:
The Huskies will play their second consecutive weekend on the road, beginning with a road matchup against Kutztown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2.
