LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Bloomsburg junior linebacker Nahzier Booker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week following his performance in the Huskies' 35-13 season-opening victory over Fairmont State.
Booker shared the team lead with eight tackles while establishing career highs with 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. His tackles behind the line of scrimmage resulted in 22 lost yards, including 21 yards on sacks.
The linebacker helped anchor a Bloomsburg defense that limited Fairmont State to 175 yards of total offense, 63 rushing yards and 11 first downs. The Huskies recorded six sacks, 11 tackles for loss and three takeaways while holding the Fighting Falcons to 2.8 yards per play.
Booker's 3.5 tackles for loss were tied for the NCAA Division II lead following the opening week of the season. He and teammate Ian Donohue (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) also shared the PSAC lead with 2.5 sacks apiece.
The honor is the second PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week selection of Booker's career. He previously received the award on Oct. 27, 2025.
Bloomsburg (1-0) returns to action Saturday, Sept. 12, when it hosts Edinboro (1-0) at Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
