Matthew Kress begins his first season on the Bloomsburg University baseball coaching staff as he will serve as the graduate assistant for the Huskies.
Kress' coaching career began in the summer of 2018 where he was an assistant coach for multiple teams at Maple Zone Sports Institute under Ken Spangenberg. There, he gained insight into the recruitment of student-athletes to numerous Division I, II, and III institutions while also learning strength and conditioning regiments under Rob Rabena. In the winter of 2018-19, he interned under Ezra Bye in the Maple Zone Sports Institute's newly-minted Player Development Program.
Kress is a 2019 graduate of Chestnut Hill College as he studied history and political science while minoring in global affairs. While at Chestnut Hill, he was a two-time D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient, a six-time member of the Dean's List, and a seven-time honoree on the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Roll. He also was a part of five honor societies including Delta Epsilon Sigma (National Scholastic), Phi Alpha Theta (History), Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science), Sigma Iota Rho (International Studies), and Chi Alpha Sigma (College Athlete Honor Society).
On the baseball diamond, Kress holds many records for the Griffins.
