Lindsay Cassel joins the Bloomsburg University field hockey staff for a second season and will serve as a volunteer assistant coach after a brilliant four-year career with the Huskies.
Cassel, a native of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, was a three-year starting goalkeeper for the Huskies and finished her career with a 29-25 overall record and a 1.16 goals against average. She allowed only 63 goals in 56 career games and posted an .824 save percentage while accumulating 17 shutouts.
She saved her best season for her senior year as she went 12-7 with a 0.76 goals against average, an .864 save percentage, and 10 shutouts in 2016. She ranked third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in goals against average and second in the league in both save percentage and shutouts. For her efforts, Cassel was named to the All-PSAC Second Team and was a Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Second Team All-American.
During her junior season, Cassel earned All-PSAC Second Team and Longstreth/NFHCA Second Team All-American accolades after going 10-10 with a 1.32 goals against average, an .835 save percentage, and five shutouts. Her save percentage was tops in the conference.
Cassel took over the starting role in 2014, and posted a 1.51 goals against average, after appearing in only two games as a true freshman in 2013.
Cassel graduated in May of 2017 with a degree in business education and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in instructional technology. She is scheduled to graduate in December.
