Brian McBryan begins his 24th season on the Bloomsburg coaching staff in 2016, and his fifth as the offensive coordinator.
He previously coached the offensive line for one year at Bucknell, was the offensive line coach at Susquehanna University for six seasons, and served prior stints at Milton, Danville, and Renovo-Bucktail high schools. McBryan is a 1980 graduate of Lock Haven University where he was a three-year starter as an offensive lineman.
At Bloomsburg, McBryan has coached ten offensive linemen to All-American honors, including NFL standout Jahri Evans, who was a two-time All-American and finalist for the Upshaw Award as the nation’s best small-college lineman.
During the 2013 season, McBryan led a pair of All-American selections in guard Brian Clarke, a nominee for the Gene Upshaw Award for the second straight year, and tackle Matt Feiler. That season, the Huskies ranked sixth in the nation in rushing. Both Clarke and Feiler signed free agent contracts with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans respectively following the 2014 NFL Draft. Clarke and Feiler were part of one of the nation’s finest offensive lines which paved the way for the 2013 Harlon Hill Award winner Franklyn Quiteh, the nation’s top running back, who finished his career second all-time in Division II career rushing at 7,523 yards.
In 2014, running back Eddie Mateo earned All-Super Region 1 honors while last season, Lawrence Elliott, Jr. led the PSAC in rushing yards per game and earned All-PSAC and All-Region accolades. With McBryan on staff, the Huskies have had a 1,000-yard rusher in six straight seasons and in 12 of the last 13 years overall.
Under McBryan, the Huskies posted the top two rushing seasons in PSAC history in back-to-back years – 2012 (3,789 yards) and 2013 (3,762 yards). Bloomsburg ultimately finished the 2013 season with the most points scored in school history (474), second-most team touchdowns in school history (63), and the most-ever yards of total offense (5,895). Bloomsburg also totaled 11 games of at least 30 points and recorded 500 or more yards of total offense eight times in 2013, both school records.
Over the course of the last four seasons, the Huskies have allowed no more than 12 sacks and have allowed an average of 8.5 sacks per season during the stretch.
In 2012, McBryan coached a national finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award as the Division II Lineman of the Year in Brian Clarke. His offensive line led the PSAC in rushing for the third consecutive season and held the fifth-ranked rushing offense in Division II at 315.75 yards per game. Bloomsburg set the PSAC single-season rushing record with 3,789 yards in 2012. The Huskies’ offense also ranked on the school’s all-time leaderboard in 2012 in points scored (451 - fourth) and touchdowns (61 - second).

His offensive line also helped to produce two separate 1,000-yard backs in consecutive seasons (2011 and 2012), becoming the first team in the PSAC to do so.

McBryan resides in Bloomsburg with his wife Cindy. They are the parents of two grown children, Matthew and Laura.
