Gary “Cookie” Gilchrest returned to the Bloomsburg staff in 2016 and has served as the team’s player mentor since 2018. He is responsible for providing athletic and academic guidance and support to the team.
He previously served two seasons on the staff assisting with strength and conditioning as well as working with the linebacking corps. He also handled game-day operations.
Gilchrest is a 1995 graduate of Bloomsburg, earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He returned in 1996 to enter the IIT program. Gilchrest finished with his Masters of Science in instructional technologies in 1998. Playing both inside and outside linebacker for the Huskies, Gilchrest was a three-year starter under Pete Adrian. He was coached by the late John S. Devlin while playing for Danny Hale in his senior season.
