Mark Ross was hired in June 2021 to serve as the Bloomsburg University football program's defensive coordinator and will be entering his second season with the Huskies in 2022.
During his first year as the team's DC, Ross helped the Huskies to one shutout victory over Lock Haven on Homecoming. During the team's 44-0 win, the team's stifling defense held Lock Haven to 96 yards of total defense, which incuded just 33 yards on the ground and 63 through the air. Under the guidance of Ross, two defensive players were named to the All-PSAC First Team as junior defensive back Quentin Gaskill and redhsirt senior defensive lineman AJ Simon both earned the postseason honor.Â
Ross comes to Bloomsburg after spending nine seasons as the head coach at Misericordia University. The first head coach in Misericordia's history, Ross took over the helm of the Cougars' program in February 2011 and built the program from the ground up. He earned his first victory as a head coach on November 16, 2013, when Misericordia earned a 63-40 road win against Fairleigh Dickinson.

Ross led the Cougars to the postseason in 2018 and 2019 and was named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coach of the Year in 2018. That year, Ross led Misericordia to an 8-3 overall record, including a 7-1 mark in the MAC, and a trip to a MAC-Centennial Bowl game for the first time. The Cougars established a program record with eight straight victories that season. Then, in 2019, Misericordia finished 6-5 overall with a second consecutive appearance in a MAC-Centennial Bowl game.

Prior to his head coaching stint at Misericordia, Ross was a long-time assistant coach at perennial Division III power, Ithaca College. During his time with the Bombers, Ithaca made the NCAA tournament five times and advanced to the regional finals in both 2001 and 2003.

Ross served as Ithaca's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 2007-11 while also serving as the athletic department's strength and conditioning coach. The Bombers appeared in the NCAA tournament in two of his five seasons as the defensive coordinator. He coached the linebackers and placekickers during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and was the Bombers' defensive line coach from 2000-05.

Before heading to Ithaca, Ross was a defensive assistant at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival, East Stroudsburg. He coached the outside linebackers in 1996 before leading the defensive ends from 1997-00.

A member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Ross earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education at Penn State in 1991. He went on to receive a Master's degree in sport management from East Stroudsburg in 1998.
