Paul Johnson was hired in February 2021 to serve as the Bloomsburg University football program's offensive coordinator and will enter his second season with the Huskies in 2022.
During Johnson's first season as the team's offensive coordinator, the team accumulated 2,055 passing yards and 1,291 rushing yards, which both ranked in the Top 10 of the PSAC. The squad averaged 304.2 total yards per game in 2021 and two tailbacks combined to rush for over 1,000 yards in freshman Kaleb Monaco (734 yards) and graduate student Alex Gooden (289 yards). At quarterback, David LePoidevin led the squad in passing yards as he threw for 1,423 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Johnson joins the Huskies' coaching staff after serving as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at the University of Charleston. Johnson enjoyed great success at Charleston as he mentored more than 20 All-Conference honorees during his tenure. In 2019, the Golden Eagles went 8-3, averaged nearly 36 points per game, and had several players set single-game and single-season school records during the year. The previous year, Johnson helped produce the program's first-ever 1,000-yard receiver.

In 2015, Charleston posted a 10-2 record, made the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in school history, and finished the year ranked in the top 20 in the country. The Golden Eagles' offense led the Mountain East Conference and ranked 12th in the country in scoring, averaging 41.1 points per game. The ground game averaged 241.3 yards per game, which also led the conference and ranked 16th in all of Division II.Â

Before his career at Charleston, Johnson was an offensive assistant at Marshall University. Johnson also served as a graduate assistant at West Virginia University from 2008-10, where he earned his Masters' degree in athletic coaching. While with the Mountaineers, he coached the offensive line and helped the team make appearances in the Meineke Car Care Bowl and the Gator Bowl.Â
Â
Johnson played collegiately at Ohio University under head coach Frank Solich from 2003-08. A three-year starter at left guard, Johnson helped lead the Bobcats to their first bowl appearance since 1966 when they played in the GMAC Bowl to conclude the 2007 campaign.
Â
A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Johnson began his winning tradition by helping the Big Reds of Parkersburg High School to a state title in 2001.
