Tony Ianiero returned to the Huskies coaching staff in 2014 and continues in 2015 as the team’s running backs coach.  Ianiero previously coached the running backs in 2011 for the Huskies and returned last season to guide them after serving as Vice President for University Advancement at Bloomsburg.

During the 2014 season, running back Eddie Mateo earned All-PSAC and All-Super Region 1 honors after rushing for 1,278 yards and averaging 6.1 yards per carry while ranking third in the nation with 25 touchdowns on the ground. In all, the Huskies rushed for over 2,900 yards as a team and picked up 5.1 yards per carry with 41 rushing touchdowns.

Ianiero also previously coached at Bloomsburg from 1987 – 89 serving as outside linebacker coach under Pete Adrian. Previous to Bloomsburg University Ianiero spent 10 years as an assistant coach at the College of New Jersey, the last seven as defensive coordinator. During that period the Lions registered six straight winning seasons, won two conference titles and were ranked nationally with a record of 47-19-2.

A graduate of The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) Ianiero has both a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services. He lettered four years in football and baseball and was inducted into the College’s Hall of Fame as a player and a coach in 1999.

Recently retired as President from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation in Harrisburg, Ianiero is married to Pam and has three grown children, Jennifer, Kristin and Joseph, all graduates of Bloomsburg University. In addition Tony and Pam have four grandchildren. Ianiero is also an “Honorary Alumnus” 1997, from Bloomsburg University.
