Erin Cunnane begins her third season as assistant coach for the men's and women's swim teams in 2012-13.

In her role as assistant swim coach at Bloomsburg, Cunnane helped lead two swimmers to outstanding seasons during the 2011-12 season. Brandon Sherbo took third at the PSAC Championships in both the 1000- and 1650-free events as well as setting school records in both events.  Also, Bridget Hilfterty qualified for NCAA’s in the 10000-free and also swam in the 200-, 500-, and 1650-free races. She earned All-American honorable mention honors in in the 1000- and 1650-free events.

Cunnane also served one season as the interim head coach for women's lacrosse in 2012. In her one season as the head coach Cunnane led the Huskies to the 2012 PSAC championship. Cunnane was named the PSAC Coach of the Year, while Julie Falk was named the PSAC Freshman of the Year.

During the season the Huskies beat national power West Chester twice and became the lowest seed ever to win a PSAC championship taking the title as a six seed.

Offensively the Huskies had the best season in the history of the program setting school records for points (431), goals (305) and  assists (126). Three times during the season the Huskies scored 25 goals in a game, while in the PSAC title game the Bloomsburg defense allowed just nine goals.

Cunnane was a dual sport athlete competing in both swimming and lacrosse at IUP, graduating magna cum laude in 2007 with a degree in Psychology. She was a PSAC qualifier for four years in the distance freestyle events and served as team captain her junior and senior years.

In lacrosse Cunnane was a two-year defensive starter and was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll.

After IUP, Cunnane served as a graduate assistant swim coach at Bethany College in West Virginia from 2007-09, while earning her master’s degree from West Virginia University in Athletic Coaching Education in 2009. She also received a master’s degree in Education (School Counseling) from Bloomsburg in 2011.

As the grad assistant at Bloomsburg , Cunnane dealt with the distance swimmers and helped qualify eight of her 10 swimmers for the PSAC championships. All eight swimmers finished in the top 16 with John King finishing third and earning All-Conference honors in the 1000 free.
