Kathy Heitzman is in her 12th year as Bloomsburg’s Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator.
 
As the first full-time director of compliance, Kathy has implemented monitoring systems, rules education programs and standardized all eligibility determinations.  She assists with the overall direction of the athletics department and served as the Acting Athletics Director during the summer of 2011, while chairing the search committee for the new Director of Athletics.
 
She is active within the campus community as well, serving on various committees including:  The University-Wide Promotion Committee (UWPC), the Strategic Planning and Resource Council (SPARC), Title IX Committee, and the Campus Clery Committee.  Kathy has served on and chaired several search committees, both in the athletics department and in other areas of the university including the head football coach, head women’s basketball coach, assistant wrestling coach, the Women’s Center Director and the Vice-Presidents of both Student Affairs and University Advancement.
 
At the conference level, Kathy serves as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s basketball liaison and the liaison to the compliance coordinators.  She also serves on both the officiating and championships committees.  She has presented to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) admissions and financial aid personnel.
 
On a national level, Kathy has been very active on NCAA committees.  She completed her 4-year term on the NCAA Division II Management Council in January of 2016.  Concurrently, she is also serving on the Legislation Committee, and its subcommittee for legislative interpretations, as well as the NCAA Convention Planning Committee (chair).  In the past, Kathy has served on the Championships Selection Task Force (chair of the Penalties subcommittee), Student-Athlete Reinstatement (chair), Committee for Legislation Relief (chair), and has been a member of both the women’s basketball and men’s tennis regional ranking committees for the Atlantic region.
 
Kathy is actively involved in the National Association of Athletics Compliance and is in her second year on the football regional ranking committee for Super Region One.
 
Prior to Bloomsburg, Kathy maintained similar roles at New Jersey Institute of Technology, San Francisco State University, and California State University, Northridge.  She began her compliance career as an Intern at the NCAA headquarters.
 
She is active in the community having served on the YMCA board of directors and as a volunteer for the annual Toys4Tots Christmas campaign.  Kathy regularly participates in campus blood drives.
 
Heitzman earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Redlands (California), her master’s at Canisius College (New York), and her law degree at Marquette University (Wisconsin).
