Mary Raskob was named the director of sports information in October of 2021 after serving as the interim director from July of that year and as the assistant director since October 2019. She oversaw the office’s transition from the title of Sports Information to Athletic Communications.
Raskob played a crucial role in the integration of Bloomsburg University, Lock Haven University, and Mansfield University into the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania that was finalized in July 2022. The integration brought the three universities together into one academic institution while maintaining each campus’ unique brand and athletic array.
Raskob joined the Huskies’ staff after over four years as the Sports Information Director and Assistant Director of Student Life – Communications at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, located in Steubenville, Ohio. While in Steubenville, Raskob served as the primary media contact for all 18 varsity sports and the communication liaison for the department of Student Life.
With the help of student interns, Raskob created the athletic department’s first broadcast network, the Baron Broadcast, which is responsible for all live streaming of collegiate varsity events on campus. In the fall of 2018, the live streaming offerings expanded to include all outdoor events and previously streamed indoor contests.
In the fall of 2018, Raskob led the redesign of www.franciscanathletics.com as it transitioned to a SIDEARM-hosted site.
As the Assistant Director of Student Life – Communications, Raskob oversaw the internal promotion of events held by the different offices in the Department of Student Life, as well as the weekly publication of the Student Life Bulletin that went to all active students. Raskob also produced publications for the fall and spring semester orientations.
Raskob, a 2009 graduate of FUS, returned to Steubenville after serving in several different sports information offices, including Frostburg State University, Salve Regina University, and Johns Hopkins University. In her time in sports information, Raskob has served as a primary media contact for football, men’s and women’s ice hockey, and a nationally-ranked baseball program, among several other sports. She aided in the game day operations for Johns Hopkins’ NCAA DI men’s and women’s lacrosse games.
In the summer of 2011, Raskob worked as a marketing intern with the Fayetteville SwampDogs of the Coastal Plain League. She helped with the daily ballpark operations and coordinated the club’s community involvement and appearances. During her tenure, Fayetteville hosted All-Star weekend and was voted “The Organization of the Year” by the league office.
During her first stint at Frostburg during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years, Raskob helped promote all 21 Bobcat varsity teams. She was the primary contact for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, swimming, and baseball and was the secondary contact for football. Raskob produced the department’s second-largest publication (baseball media guide), helped redesign and launch the athletic website in the summer of 2011, and played a vital role in the office’s day-to-day operations.
Raskob came to FSU after serving as a student assistant in the Franciscan University sports information office for four years. It transitioned from a club program to varsity and the NCAA DIII. While at FUS, she served as the head statistician for the Baron volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball teams. She was responsible for the hiring and management of all work-study students, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of all NCAA statistics.
Raskob is a native of Hatfield, Pa., and currently resides in Bloomsburg with her son, Michael. Raskob earned her MBA from Bloomsburg in December of 2021 after receiving a bachelor of arts degree from Franciscan University in May of 2009.
