NYACK, NY- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 win over Caldwell College in the season opener for the team at the Nyack College tournament.
The Huskies fell behind 1-0 just 3:40 into the game on a goal from Caldwell's Chris Skarbelis. Bloomsburg tied the score at 1-1 in the 35th minute when freshman Tyler Phillips (Ephrata/Ephrata) (Ephrata/Ephrata) scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from Paul Lamb (Quakertown/Quakertown) (Quakertown/Quakertown).
Bloomsburg took the lead just four minutes later when Tom Kovack (Croydon/Conwell-Egan Catholic) (Croydon/Conwell-Egan Catholic) headed a ball into the off a rebound of a shot that hit the post.
In the second half, Bloomsburg goalie David Leiendecker (Easton/Easton) (Easton/Easton) stopped three shots to preserve the Huskies victory. Overall, Leiendecker stopped five shots in the game.
Bloomsburg, 1-0, will take on the host school Nyack College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
