BLOOMSBURG-- Marcus Valeriano (Oley/Oley Valley) (Oley/Oley Valley) scored once and added one assist to lead the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win in the opener of the 2009 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule Wednesday night at Sports Stadium.

The Huskies opened the scoring at the 19:31 mark of the first half when Eric Simonds (Sassamansville/Boyertown) (Sassamansville/Boyertown) scored unassisted. Bloomsburg struck again just before halftime when Valeriano hit the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Bloomsburg freshmen Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) (Gettysburg/Gettysburg Area) scored off an assist from Valeriano to seal the win for Bloomsburg. In goal, Bloomsburg's David Leiendecker (Easton/Easton) (Easton/Easton) made six saves to earn the shutout.

The game was physical throughout with three yellow and three red cards handed out between the two teams. Bloomsburg, 2-0, 1-0 in the PSAC East, will play at Millersville on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
