Huskies Fall to No. 4 Gannon

Kayla Oxenrider leads BU with 13 points in 93-55 loss

ERIE - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to No 4-ranked Gannon 93-55 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cross-over action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Knights got out to a 7-2 lead less than five minutes into the game, but the Huskies rebounded and with layups by freshman forwards Christine Sereta (Drums, Hazleton Area) and Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland, Tri-Valley), Bloomsburg cut it to 10-6 at the 12:37 mark. Gannon would counter with a layup then hit back-to-back three pointers by Kristina Freeman and Julie Kebler to take an 18-6 advantage less than three minutes later. The Huskies would fall behind by 19 with 3:31 remaining in the first half before cutting Gannon's lead to 40-25 going into the locker room.

The Lady Knights would come out firing, going on an 18-7 run over 5:39 to start the second half and would outscore the Huskies by 23 to take the win.

Oxenrider led all Huskies with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three steals. Freshman guard Dana Wieller (Bethlehem, Liberty) scored 11 points, going 3-of-8 from three-point range.

The Huskies (8-3) hit the court tomorrow when they play at Clarion. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m.
