Men's Soccer Sneaks Past Goldey-Beacom, 1-0

Box Score

BLOOMSBURG—A one-touch shot from freshman Michail Georgevic (Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill Haven) in the 85th minute gave Bloomsburg University a 1-0 win over Goldey-Beacom College in non-conference men's soccer matchup on Wednesday night.

The Huskies kept offensive pressure on the ball throughout the first half, earning six corner kicks but failing to capitalize on their efforts. Bloomsburg out-shot the Lightning 8-3 in the scoreless frame.

With time winding down in regulation, Alex Ruhfass (Newton, Council Rock North) served a long pass into the penalty box that connected with Georgevic whose shot sailed over the head of Goldey-Beacom goalie Ignacio Farias for the freshman's first career goal.

In net for the Huskies, freshman Bernie Roell (Douglassville, Daniel Boone) stopped all four of the Lightning's shots on goal and recorded his second shutout of the season.

This weekend, Bloomsburg (4-6-2, 2-3-2 PSAC East) travels to West Virginia to face non-conference opponent West Virginia Wesleyan at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. Goldey-Beacom (2-10, 1-6 CACC) returns to Wilmington, Del. for its homecoming game against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Concordia College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
