BUCKHANNON, WV – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon to West Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Bobcats outshot the Huskies in the first half, 6-2, but neither were able to put anything on net. The game remained scoreless at intermission.
Karl McKnight put the Bobcats in front in the 65th minute after being awarded a direct kick, when Wesleyan was fouled hard in front of the Huskies net.
The Huskies fired back 10 minutes later, when freshman
Fran Miller (Doylestown, Central Bucks East) tallied the equalizer after depositing the ball to the corner of the net, giving him his second goal of the season.
A minute later, the Bobcats answered when Daniel Smee found the back of the net for the game winning goal, off a rebound from a blocked shot off of freshman goalkeeper
Bernie Roell (Douglassville, Daniel Boone).
The Huskies, Roell stopped 10 of the Bobcats 12 shots on net, while the Bobcats goalkeeper Ryan McDougall ended with one save.
The Huskies, 4-7-2, return home to host Mercyshurst on Tuesday, October 19th at 7:00 pm. The Bobcats, 10-3-2, will play at Shepherd University on October 19th.
