Men's Soccer Drops Season Finale To East Stroudsburg In Overtime, 1-0

EAST STROUDSBURG – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped its 2010 season finale to East Stroudsburg on Saturday night by a final score of 1-0 in overtime.

It was a battle of the defenses in the first half of action, with the Huskies taking just three shots, with one coming on goal. The Warriors were able to post nine shots, with three being saved by Bloomsburg goalkeeper Bernie Roell (Douglassville, Daniel Boone). The score at the break was deadlocked at 0-0.

The second half featured both offenses mustering just 10 shots combined.

The end of regulation ended at 0-0, but East Stroudsburg's Michael Kane scored the game-winner for the Warriors in the overtime period at 98:22.

After Roell denied a Greg Schook shot, Kane was able to sneak the ball into the back of the net from the feed from Schook and Shastri Spencer.

The Warriors outshot the Huskies 6-0 in the overtime period.

Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg, Gettysburg Area) was able to take three shots on goal while Fran Miller (Doylestown, Central Bucks East)posted one shot on goal, but none of the four shots went past ESU goalkeeper Troy Hernandez.

Roell stopped nine East Stroudsburg shots. Hernandez made four saves.

Bloomsburg finishes the 2010 season with a 5-9-2 overall record and a 2-5-2 PSAC record. East Stroudsburg finishes the regular season at 12-6 and 6-3 PSAC.
