Men's Soccer Falls to Shippensburg, 3-1

BLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell to Shippensburg by a 3-1 margin on Saturday night. 

Prior to the game, the Huskies warmed up wearing official Red Card Cancer shirts. Bloomsburg men's head soccer coach Paul Payne started Red Cancer as a fundraiser in the soccer community to help spread awareness of the global fight against cancer. 

Freshman Fran Miller (Doylestown, Central Bucks East) put the Huskies in front with his first goal of the season at the 34:57 mark of the opening half after heading the ball past goalkeeper Clay Sale. The Raiders fired back four minutes later, when Austin Hill tallied the equalizer after heading the ball in off a corner kick from Oil Templeton.

At the 54th minute in the second half, the Raiders Taylor Hudson found the back of the net off a deflection from freshman goalkeeper Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg, Northern) Miles Harriger struck again for the Raiders at the 70:36 mark. Harriger would put the ball past diving keeper Lobo Jr. after receiving a pass from Jeremy Taylor.

The Huskies were able to put five of their seven shots on frame but were unable to beat Shippensburg and take the lead.

The Huskies (3-6-2) will host Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. Shippensburg (7-5) will travel to West Chester on Tuesday, October 12.
