CALIFORNIA, PA – Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove, Bishop McDevitt)led the Huskies with a 17th-place finish and earned a Second Team All-PSAC selection as the Bloomsburg University women's cross country team finished seventh overall at the PSAC Championships held at the University of California (Pa.) on Saturday morning.

Sixteen teams competed, as Bloomsburg totaled 198 points. Shippensburg placed first on the day and finished with 25 points. Shippensburg's Neely Spence took home first place for the Lady Raiders, touching the finish line at 20:52.

Filemyr, who has competed well this season, finished the race in a time of 23:22. Katie Meck (Dillsburg, Northern) was Bloomsburg's second-place finisher, posting a 26th-place time of 23:54. Samantha Matthews (Windsor, Glenelg) crossed the finish line for BU's number three, running the course in 24:27 and finishing 39th.

Courtney Werner (Hudson, OH, Hudson) crossed the finish line at 25:00, ending the day placing fourth for the Huskies and 71st overall. Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield, Cardinal O'Hara) rounded out the top five for Bloomsburg, finishing in a time of 25:08, placing fifth for the Huskies and 60th overall.

Martina Drew (Langhorne, Neshaminy) (25:47) and Caitlin Heller (Bloomsburg, Indian Valley) (25:49) rounded out the top seven for the Huskies.

"After losing two weeks ago to Indiana (Pa.), Lock Haven, and Mansfield, the women managed to beat all of them," says head coach Bernie Empie. "Hopefully the women can bounce back with a stronger outcome in two weeks at regionals."

Bloomsburg will now travel to Cary, N.C., for the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship hosted by Saint Augustine's College on November 20.
