Huskies Finish Third in 2010 PSAC Championships

Katie Hasyn teamed with Kristen Bonito to win at second doubles, 8-1

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team finished in third place of the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, defeating Kutztown 6-2 on Saturday.

The Huskies swept doubles, losing just 12 total games. Katie Hasyn (Lansdale, North Penn) and Kristen Bonito (Bridgewater, MA, Coyle Cassidy Memorial) won at second doubles with a score of 8-1.

In singles, Bloomsburg put the match away with two quick wins at five and six. Bonito cruised through her match winning 6-1, 6-0 at five singles and Andrea Malatesta (Berwick, Berwick) also won 6-1, 6-1 to give the Huskies the edge at six singles.

The Huskies will wait to see where they will travel to for NCAA Regionals on May 5.

BLOOMSBURG-California University rolled past Slippery Rock 5-0 on Saturday to win the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's tennis championship.

In doubles, the Vulcans cruised through all three matches, dropping just eight total games. Jutta Bornefeld and Nina Kowalski jumped out early to win at second doubles 8-2.

Cal continued to win in singles play. Axell Fernandez got the Vulcans started, winning her match easily 6-0, 6-0.

California will host NCAA Regionals as the number one seed on May 5.
