BUCKHANNON, WV—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis saw its season come to an end with a tough 5-0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan (WVW) on Friday in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional final.
The Bobcats swept all three doubles matches, but had to play tie-breakers at both number one and three to earn the sweep. At one the Huskies' team of
Fernando Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) and
Brandon Cummings (Tallahassee, FL/Chiles) lost 9-8, 6 in the tie-breaker, while at three doubles
Jack McClurkin (Collegeville/Spring-Ford) and
Alan Hummel (Manhiem/Hempfield) lost 9-8, 1 in the tie-breaker. West Virginia Wesleyan's other win came at two doubles by a score of 8-5.
In singles play WVW won at both four and five singles to close out the match. At five singles Javier Yim Kim won 6-0, 6-1, while at number four Danilo Francisco won 6-2, 6-2 to give the home team the win.
Bloomsburg ends its season at 12-9, while the Bobcats improve to 22-2 and will now advance to next week's national championship round in Altamonte Springs, FL.
