BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg tennis team has announced its captains for the 2026-27 season.
Lia-Sophie Seele (Mülheim, NRW, Germany/Luisenschule) returns for her second year as captain of the women's team while
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Russian Gymnasium at the State Russian Museum) and
Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) will serve as the captains for the men's team.
Seele finished the 2025-26 season with a 10-9 record in singles action while posting a 10-12 record in doubles play.
"Lia will return for her second year as captain," said head coach
Rebecca Helt. "She has been an outstanding contributor in both singles and doubles for three years. She gives 110% effort every time she's on the court, whether it's practice or a competition. She truly leads by example, and her teammates have a great deal of respect for her work ethic in tennis and in the classroom"
On the men's side,
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Russian Gymnasium at the State Russian Museum) collected All-PSAC First Team honors for the third year in a row after going 14-6 as the Huskies' No. 1 singles competitor and picked up a first team double nod after going 8-4 alongside
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin).
"Denis has led our team at the top of the line-up in singles and doubles," said Helt. "He was voted PSAC Freshman of the year in 2024 and has been consistently ranked in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This year, Denis hopes to help raise the level of the team by pushing them to set their sights higher and put in the extra time"
Soria joins Dementev as co-captain after going 12-10 in double action during the 2025-26 season. The Pamplona, Spain native went 3-3 during conference play at No. 3 singles.
"Jaime is so dedicated to his team," stated Helt. "He has always wanted the very best for every player on our roster. He has improved his own game and his own work ethic during his first three years, and his teammates have watched his efforts pay off. Jaime will definitely help the team reach new personal levels this year."
