Men's Soccer Stops UDC, 3-2

WASHINGTON, DC- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season against the University of D.C. on Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-2. 

Sophomore Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg, Gettysburg Area) kicked off the day for the Huskies 14 minutes into the first half, giving Bloomsburg their first goal of the day. The Huskies would add to its lead at the 29:00 mark when Shaffer again found his way to the back of the net, giving him his third goal of the season. 

With 11 minutes to play in the first half, senior Tom Kovack (Croydon, Conwell-Egan Catholic) scored after taking a pass from freshman Francis Miller (Doylestown, Central Bucks East) and put the ball past keeper Kyle Heatherington, giving the Huskies a 3-0 lead. 

In the second half, the Firebirds wasted no time in answering to the Huskies 3-0 lead when Samer Shehadeh scored just five minutes in. Trying to make a comeback, Adriel Garcia was able to slip one past the Huskies freshman keeper Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg, Northern) at the 50:00 mark.

 In the end, the Huskies remained on top and came away with a win. Lobo played the entire game in goal for Bloomsburg and recorded three saves for the day. 

Bloomsburg, 1-2, will return home on Friday, Sept. 17 at 3:30 pm against Slippery Rock.
