CLARION—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis posted a 6-3 win over IUP on Friday in a match at Clarion University.

The Huskies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in double play with a big win by Michelle Perez (Center Valley, Southern Lehigh)and Emily Palko (McMurray, Peters Township) at number one who posted an 8-5 victory. At number two the team of Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry, Delaware Valley) and Andrea Malatesta (Berwick, Berwick) scored a 9-7 win, while at three Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT, St. John The Baptist) and Kristi Twardziak (Somerdale, NJ, Triton Regional ) blanked their opponent by an 8-0 score.

In singles play the Huskies earned wins at number three, four and six to pull out the win. One of the big wins came from Malatesta at four who rallied from a set down to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Also, Perez at number two, scored a straight set win with a first set win by tie-breaker.

Bloomsburg improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.
