Franklyn Quiteh (Tobyhanna, Pocono Mountain West) rushed for a career-high 223 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg University to a 44-7 win over Millersville on Saturday afternoon in the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division opener.
Quiteh nearly put the Huskies (3-1, 1-0 PSAC East) in front on the game's first play from scrimmage going 67-yards to the Millersville (2-2, 0-1 PSAC East) one-yard line. However, the Huskies could not punch the ball in on three plays and missed on a 19-yard field goal try.
Bloomsburg did get into the endzone on its second possession when Quiteh capped a 50-yard scoring drive with a 25-yard run. The extra point though failed and the Huskies led 6-0.
Late in the first period a Millersville punt pinned the Huskies back at their own 10-yard line. Quiteh got the Huskies out of trouble after three carries got the ball to the Bloomsburg 20. Alternating the passing game and the run the Huskies worked the ball to the Millersville 37-yard line. Quiteh then had runs of 22, 7 and four yards putting the Huskies first and goal at the four. QB
Pat Carey (Loyalsock, Loyalsock Twp.) then hit
Ben Weaber (Lebanon, Cedar Crest) with a four yard scoring pass on the first play of the second period to make it a 13-0 lead for Bloomsburg.
After the Huskies defense forced a punt on Millersville's next possession, Bloomsburg put together a 43-yard scoring drive to make it 20-0 capped by Carey hitting
Tyler Guise (Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Valley) with an 11-yard scoring pass, the first career touchdown reception for Guise.
Tyler Guise (Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Valley) carried five times for the Huskies in the drive gaining 32 yards.
Millersville got on the board on its next possession moving 80 yards in eight plays with Mike Jones scoring from one yard out to make it 20-7. Bloomsburg, though, got the score right back marching 64 yards in six plays on its ensuing possession and scoring with 1:56 to go before half. Quiteh scored his second touchdown of the game going in from two yards out for a 27-7 Huskies lead at the break.
Bloomsburg started the second half forcing a three and out for the Marauders then put together a drive that stalled at the Millersville 15-yard line. There

Bloomsburg added to its lead later in the quarter when Carey scored his first career touchdown on a one-yard keeper, then got the game's final score midway through the fourth period when backup quarterback
Mike Wagner (Hershey, Hershey) scored his first career touchdown on a four-yard run.
The Bloomsburg defense preserved the second half shutout late in the fourth period when
Drew Siegfried (Glenside, Bishop McDevitt) intercepted Kevin Fowle's pass in the endzone ending a Millersville drive.
Quiteh finished with 22 carries for a career-best 223 yards, Carey was 11 for 17 for 119 yards and two scores and one rushing touchdown. The Huskies' defense, which made three interceptions on the day and has eight over the last two games, got a team-high seven tackles from
Jarrett Pidgeon (Barnegat, NJ, Southern Regional).
The Huskies host East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Redman Stadium in their next game.
