LEWISBURG-The Bloomsburg University cross country teams finished strong at the Bison Open Saturday morning held at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. While individual results were kept, team scores were not kept at the meet.
For the women, sophomore
Katherine Filemyr (Willow Grove, Bishop McDevitt) led for the Bloomsburg runners and finished in 14th place with a time of 18:34. Junior
Katie Meck (Dillsburg, Northern) was close behind with a time of 18:51, finishing in 18th place overall. Freshman
Martina Drew (Langhorne, Neshaminy)followed in 33rd place with a time of 19:01.
Also finishing for the Huskies were freshman
Courtney Werner (Hudson, Hudson) with a time of 19:12, junior
Samantha Matthews (Windsor/Glenelg) with a time of 19:15, freshman
Bridget McDermott (Glenholden, Cardinal O'Hara) timing at 19:16, junior
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield, Cardinal O'Hara)with a time of 19:18, sophomore
Lauren Bond (Hatfield, North Penn) with a 20:05 time, junior
Caitlin Heller (Bloomsburg, Indian Valley) with a time of 20:10, sophomore
Kelsey Harm (Boothwyn, Cardinal O'Hara) with a time of 20:23, sophomore
Bridget Krecko (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) timing at 21:02, and junior
Patricia Hannon (Paramus, Paramus) with a time of 21:23.
On the men's side, junior
Robert Furman (Broomall, Maple Newtown) was the highest finisher for all Bloomsburg runners, coming in third place with a time of 15:01. Junior
David Moyer (Boyertown, Boyertown)was 23rd with a time of 15:34 and sophomore
Mike Hookham (Middlesex, NJ, Middlesex) was not far behind, coming in 29th place with a time of 15:47.

Brent Balmer (Lebanon, Cedar Crest) with a time of 16:18, senior
Scott Trama (West Chester, West Chester East) with a time of 16:27, senior
Auston Martzell (Myerstown, ELCO) timing 16:28, freshman
John Makuvek (Kresgeville, Pleasant Valley) in 16:39, senior
Jared Arnold (Philadelphia, Engineering & Science) with a time of 16:44, and finishing with 16:57 was sophomore
Justin Woerth (Christiana, Solanco).
"There were not many surprises today,” said head coach
Bernie Empie. “After a big load during pre-season camp and the adjustment to being back at school, this meet gave us a closer look at where our strengths and weaknesses are. With over eight weeks until the PSAC Championships and 10 weeks until the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional, I am confident we will improve and finish the season strong."
The Huskies race at Mansfield University in the Flat Land Invitational on Sept. 18.
