No. 1 Field Hockey Tops No. 8 Kutztown, 6-1

BLOOMSBURG—The number one nationally ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey (14-0, 7-0 PSAC East) team extended their win streak to 14 games today as they topped number eight Kutztown University (8-6, 3-4 PSAC East), 6-1.  Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) registered two goals while Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) came off the bench to score another two.

Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) broke a 0-0 tie at the 17:43 mark of the first half as she re-directed a pass from Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) that beat the goalie on the right side for a 1-0 lead.  Less than a minute late Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) would make it 2-0 by slapping a shot in front of the net on a cross from teammate Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Sussex Technical).

Nine minute would go by before the Huskies struck again.  BU's Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) made it a 3-0 game as she rifled a shot that lifted in the air over the goalies head for a score. 

1:24 later Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) notched her second goal of the evening, registering an unassisted goal by slapping a shot past the goalie on the left side of the net.  Bloomsburg would carry a 4-0 lead entering the half.

Three minutes into the second Riley broke free for a one-on-one opportunity with the goal.  Riley cut to the left but was taken down by the Golden Bear goalie, producing a penalty stroke.  Aulenbach took the penalty stroke, beating the goalie on the left side of the net for BU's fifth goal of the game.

Less than two minutes later Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) scored her first goal of the night.  Simonovich would re-direct a pass from Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley) in the air that beat the goalie on the left side for a 6-0 lead. 

Kutztown would eventually get on the board at the 49:16 mark on a Emily Labowitz goal. Jenna Gregory was credited with the assist.

Bloomsburg goalie Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon/Fleetwood) made three saves in 70 minutes of action while Emily Falko of Kutztown came up with 11 saves.  The Huskies out-shot the Golden Bears 20-4, with only three shots not making their way on frame. 

The Huskies are back in action this Saturday, October 15th as they host the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University PSAC East action.  Game-time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Sports Stadium in Bloomsburg, PA.
