Men's Soccer Drop in Overtime to Charleston, 1-0

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell on Sunday afternoon in overtime against the Golden Eagles of University of Charleston, 1-0. With the loss the Huskies drop to 5-7-1 on the season, while the Golden Eagles improve to 8-5.

Charleston would dominate in the Huskies defensive end for the first half, with a 12-0 shot advantage and 3-0 edge in corner kicks. BU goalkeeper Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) would record seven saves in the half, keeping the game scoreless.

Matt Cannon (Wrightstown/Council Rock North) came out early in the second half with a header, but the ball was sent high over the net. The Huskies could not overcome the Golden Eagles defense by the end of regulation, recording four shots in the half.

Sent into overtime the Golden Eagles would get the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute when Garrett Listo sent the ball up the middle to Dion Peters to beat out Roell, sending the ball to the left side of the net. Roell would register nine saves in the game.

Bloomsburg will return to action on Tuesday, October 18 for a PSAC match-up against University of California (Pa.) at Sports Stadium. The game time is set for 2 pm.
