Men's Soccer Falls to No. 8 Cal in Double Overtime, 2-1

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) match-up, 2-1, in double overtime to the No. 8 Vulcans of California (Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss the Huskies drop to 5-8-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in PSAC play, while the Vulcans go to 10-1-4 on the season and 5-1-1 in conference play.

The Vulcans would keep the ball in the Huskies defensive end for the first half, with a 7-0 shot advantage and 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

With less than 10 seconds left in the half Djamel Boudhar would pass off the ball to Brady Sanders for a high shot on net, giving California a 1-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, BU's Nate Conrad (Enola/East Pennsboro) would cross to ball into the box and Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) would get a header off to tie up the score at 1-1 with less than three minutes left in regulation play.

The first overtime would go scoreless, as both teams could not get a shot off.

With less than two minutes into the second overtime Paul Silverstone would cross the ball over to Brady Sanders for a shot for the Vulcans. After the Huskies goalie Bernie Roell (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) had made the save, the officials would rule the shot a goal as the ball was caught inside the net.

The Vulcans outshot the Huskies 13-4, while Roell registered six saves on the day.

Bloomsburg will look to bounce back on Wednesday, October 26 as they travel to Goldey-Beacom for a 3:30 pm game start.
