ERIE- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) match-up, 2-0, on the road against the Lakers of Mercyhurst. With the loss the Huskies drop to 3-6-1 on the season and 3-3-1 in PSAC play, while the Lakers go to 9-3 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.
The Huskies came out firing in the first half as they put two shots on goal before earning a corner kick. Bloomsburg would come up empty handed in their early attempts.
With neither team able to score in the first half, the Lakers out shot the Huskies 13-6 to end the half.
In the second half the Lakers would make good on a corner kick opportunity as Oliver Gage delivered a cross into the box where teammate Billy Colton would drill a header between the left post and BU goalie
Bernie Roell (Douglassville, Daniel Boone). Mercyhurst's goal came during the 76th minute of play, giving them a 1-0 lead.
With a little over six minutes left Mercyhurst would score off a chip shot over Roell to give the Lakers a 2-0 victory.
Mercyhurst out shot the Huskies 24-7, while having a 10-5 corner kick advantage over Bloomsburg.
Roell registered 10 saves on the day, while his counterpart Diego Gustin had three.
Bloomsburg will look to bounce back as they host Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, October 11 at Sports Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 pm.
