BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team (0-1, 0-1 PSAC) dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting Slippery Rock University (4-0, 2-0 PSAC) this afternoon. Today's match marked the first fall contest for the Huskies due to inclement weather conditions.
Slippery Rock took all three doubles points, giving up no more than four games in a single match.
Trailing 3-0 entering singles play, the Huskies had their work cut out for them and would be unable to make a comeback as Bloomsburg took one of six singles matches.
BU's lone singles win came from senior
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) at the four spot. Walsh won a thrilling three set battle after dropping the opening set by a break at 6-4. She would go on and take a tight second set at 7-6 (7-5) before pulling out a close super tie-breaker 10-8 for the win.
At first singles
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) dropped a close her match by only a break in each set, 7-5, 6-4. Senior
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) fell in similar fashion dropping both of her sets 7-5, 7-5.
Bloomsburg will look to bounce back as they host California University (Pa.) tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. in PSAC play.
