Huskies Thump PSU-Hazleton, 87-41

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's basketball team (5-1) earned an 87-41 win over the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Hazleton (2-3).  The win marks Bloomsburg's fifth in a row and fourth straight at home.

PSU-Hazleton knocked down five of their first eight shots to claim a 15-11 lead.  The Nittany Lions held a 20-19 lead at the 10:15 mark and it would be their last as the Huskies went on a 22-2 run, taking a 41-22 lead into the half.

Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown/Norristown), Larry Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) III, and Jamar Smack (Philadelphia/State College) led the way in the first half as the trio combined for 29 points.  Christmas also made seven steals in the first half, marking a career high for the sophomore guard. The Huskies totaled 12 steals, scoring 19 points off their 12 takeaways. 

The second half was all Bloomsburg again as the Huskies outscored PSU-Hazleton 46-19.  Of the 46 second half points, 33 came from BU's bench. 

13 of 15 Huskies scored points today with Webster leading the way with 15 points while Smack added another 12.  Christmas finished with 10 points.  Bloomsburg's bench finished with 49 total points, outscoring the entire PSU-Hazleton squad. 

Bloomsburg out-rebounded PSU-Hazleton 40-to-25 with 13 of BU's rebounds coming on the offensive end.  The Huskies also scored 33 points off turnovers and 56 of their 87 points came from inside the paint.  

For the Nittany Lions, Casey Petty led the way with 11 points with Mike Taylor added another 10. 

The Huskies put their five game win streak on the line as they travel to take on IUP on Saturday, December 3.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Indiana, PA.
