Box Score BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG—Dana Wieller (Bethlehem/Liberty) of the Bloomsburg University women's basketball tied her career high with 29 points but it was not enough as Indiana (Pa.) edged the Huskies, 84-79.  With the loss Bloomsburg falls to 5-2 overall and 1-2 in PSAC play while the Crimson Hawks improve to 5-0 and 3-0 in the PSAC.

The first half was a tight one with IUP claiming a lead for the majority of the half.  Bloomsburg did take a late lead at the 3:42 mark, 26-25.  However, the Crimson Hawks closed out the first half with a 12-4 run to take a 37-30 lead into halftime.

In the second half IUP took their largest lead of the game at the 14:08 mark, 51-41.  From there the Huskies went on a run of their own to cut the lead to 53-52 with just about 10 minutes to play.  Lauren Ellis (Bangor/Bangor) scored four points and Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) drained a three during the 11-2 run.

The game would remain within five points as both teams went back and forth with BU tying it up three different times.  IUP would go up 79-73 with 1:24 remaining in regulation but three pointers by Noack and Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) brought the Huskies to within one with 49 seconds left.

After a pair of missed free throws by IUP, Bloomsburg took over the ball with 29 seconds remaining down by just one point.  IUP's Leslie Stapleton made a huge defensive play, stealing the ball with 16 seconds left.  The Crimson Hawks would go 4-4 from the free throw line to close the game out, resulting in an 84-79 decision.

Bloomsburg finished with three players in double figures with Wieller leading all scorers with 29 points.  Gallagher added 16 points while Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland/Tri-Valley) chipped in another 15.  Ellis was two points and two rebounds away from a double-double as she scored eight points and grabbed eight boards.

For the Crimson Hawks, five players finished with double digits with Marita Mathe leading the way with 19 points in an effort off the bench.  The Huskies will look to bounce back as they take on the Vulcans of California (Pa.) in a road game at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, December, 4.
