WEXFORD, Pa. –The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team lost to 23rd-ranked Slippery Rock on Sunday by a score of 6-2 at the Oxford Athletic Club.
The Rock jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. At three doubles the Huskies team of
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) and
Kristi Twardziak (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional ) lost 9-8 (9-7 in the tie-breaker).
In singles play the Huskies
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) picked up a Bloomsburg's win, 6-4, 6-3 at number three, while
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) won at number six singles, 6-0, 6-1. Bloomsburg also ost a tough three-set match at number four when
Andrea Malatesta (Berwick/Berwick) lost 6-2,4-6,10-7.
Bloomsburg falls to 3-1 with the loss, while Slippery Rock improves to 5-1.
