CLERMONT, FL—The Bloomsburg University softball team swept a pair of games on Friday beating Grand Valley, 2-1, and Wayne State of Nebraska, 2-0.
In game two the Huskies used the long ball and strong pitching to get the win. Senior
Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) led off the game for Bloomsburg with a solo for a 1-0 lead.
It stayed that way till one out in the top of the seventh when
Mandy Leach (Milford/Delaware Valley) went deep to give the Huskies and pitcher
Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) a bit of a cushion at 2-0. Wayne State did get a runner on base with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Fisher retired the next two batters to earn the win.
Fisher allowed just two hits in the game, while striking out six and walking two.
In the opener the Huskies beat Grand Valley State 2-1, its second win of the week over the Lakers.
Bloomsburg, now 7-3, will wrap up its trip to Florida with games against Molloy and Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
