Women's Tennis Team Downs Wilkes

BLOOMBSURG, PA – It was a cold and windy afternoon as the Bloomsburg University women's tennis team won a very close first home match of the season, 5-4 over Wilkes University on Tuesday.

The Huskies took two out of three doubles points to take the lead before heading into singles. Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh)/Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) dominated at number one doubles to win 8-1 followed by Kristi Twardziak (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional )/Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) winning 8-3 at the number three position.

In singles play, Bloomsburg was very solid at the top winning at one through three singles to seal the victory. Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) won 6-4, 6-2 at number one, while Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) won 6-3, 6-0 at number two. Laura Sullivan (Dingman's Ferry/Delaware Valley) dominated at number three by winning 6-1, 6-0.

Despite Wilkes winning matches four through six, the Huskies won the match.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 6-3 on the season with their next match scheduled for April 1 against PSAC rival Millersville University.
