HILTON HEAD, SC -The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team began their spring break with a victory Sunday morning against Olivet College by a score of 8-1.
The Huskies began the match with a sweep of all three doubles matches. At number three doubles, freshmen
Nicole Slagle (Irwin/Penn Trafford) and
Kristen Wong (Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic) rallied from a deficit of 4-1 to take the win 8-5.
In singles play, the Huskies earned easy wins from
Michelle Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) , 6-1, 6-2, at number one, and
Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township), 6-0, 6-1, at number two to clinch the overall team victory.
The most competitive match was a tight three-set loss by
Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist), 6-4, 3-6, (14-12), at number three singles. After dropping a close first set, Walsh earned the second set and forced a super-tiebreaker separated by only a couple of points.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 4-1 on the season.
