Bloomsburg Blanks Kutztown in Women's Tennis

KUTZTOWN--The Bloomsburg University women's tennis clinched the top seed in next week's PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) championships after downing Kutztown by a score of 9-0 on Thursday.

Bloomsburg's number one doubles team of Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) and Kristi Twardziak (Somerdale, NJ/Triton Regional ) scored an 8-1 win, while at number two Danielle Walsh (Fairfield, CT/St. John The Baptist) and Natalie Greenholt (Hanover/South Western) posted an 8-6 victory. At number three doubles the Huskies picked up a win by forfeit.

In singles action the Huskies scored a win by forfeit at number six, then won 6-0, 6-0 at number two, three and four singles. Palko won at number one 7-5, 6-2, while Kristen Wong (Allentown/Allentown Central Catholic) scored a 6-3, 6-0 win at number five.

The Huskies, winners of seven straight matches, improved to 12-3 on the year, 6-0 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg also ran its PSAC Eastern Division winning streak to 21 straight dating back to the 2006-07 season.

Bloomsburg will host the BU Duals on Saturday against the University of Charleston at 3:30 p.m.
