CLARION—Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) went 2-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 6-4 win over Clarion on Monday in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Central Division game. The second game of the doubleheader was rained out and will not be made up.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead when Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore), this week's PSAC Central Division Player of the Week, singled to lead off the game and came around to score later in the inning on a single by Sam Pientack (Archbald/Valley View). For Mauro it was her sixth consecutive hit.

After Clarion tied the score with a run in the bottom of the third, the Huskies regained the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth. Emily Young (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) doubled home Neyahrd with the first run of the inning with Raychelle Kuhns (Williamsport/Loyalsock) bringing home Young with an RBI triple. Mauro then followed with a single making it 4-1.

Clarion rallied and tied the score at 4-4 after getting three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Two runs came home on an error and one scored on a sacrifice fly.

Bloomsburg took the lead for good in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs. Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) singled to lead off the inning. After a bunt moved Lazorka to second, Pientack reached on an error by the right fielder. After a line out, Neyhard laced a single up the middle scoring two runs and giving the Huskies a 6-4 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh Clarion got a runner on, but starting pitcher Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic), the PSAC Central Division Pitcher of the Week, got a strikeout to end the game. Fisher ended the game with 10 strikeouts while walking two.

Bloomsburg, 28-5, 11-2 in the PSAC Central Division, will host IUP on Tuesday starting at 1 p.m.
