INDIANA,PA—Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) hit a three-run homer to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 6-2 win and a split of its doubleheader with IUP on Thursday. In game one, IUP snapped the Huskies 19-game winning streak with a 3-2 win.

In game two with the Huskies and Crimson Hawks scoreless through two innings, Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) doubled and Raychelle Kuhns (Williamsport/Loyalsock) singled to put runners at first and third. Mauro then followed with her seventh homer of the season to put the Huskies on top 3-0.

In the fourth inning Neyhard doubled and moved to third on a ground out. Neyhard then scored on a single by Rachel Fredell (Dingmans Ferry/Delaware Valley). Bloomsburg made it 6-0 with two runs in the top of the sixth. Neyhard and Kuhns each had run scoring singles in the inning.

IUP finally broke through for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth against pitcher Cait Paine (Lebanon/Lebanon). The sophomore lefty though retired the side in order in the seventh to earn the win.

In game one the Huskies led 2-0 going to the bottom of the fourth inning. Neyhard hit a solo homer in the third and Sam Pientack (Archbald/Valley View) hit a solo shot in the top of third inning.

IUP struck for three runs in the bottom of the fourth getting an RBI double and a two-run homer while taking advantage of two hit batters by Huskies starter Shavaun Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic).

Bloomsburg did get two runners on in the fifth inning with two outs, but IUP pitcher Erin Holloway worked out of trouble and retired the Huskies in order in the sixth and seventh inning to get the win.

The Huskies, now 24-4, 7-1 in the PSAC Central, will host Lock Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m. IUP goes to 23-4,and remains a game behind the Huskies in the PSAC Central with a 6-2 record.
