Lauren McGinley (Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin) scored two goals as the Bloomsburg University field hockey team stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 whitewash of Mercyhurst College on Friday in Erie.
The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board scoring just 7:10 into the game when
Nicole Bruce (Dalton/Lackawanna Trail) scored off a
Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) assist.
Bloomsburg made it 2-0 about 18 minutes later when McGinley scored her first goal of the game with
Alexis Weber (Bear, DE/William Penn) getting credit for the assist.
The Huskies, ranked number one in Division II, made it a 3-0 game when
Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) hit the back of the cage with
Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) netting the assist. McGinley came back 56 seconds later scoring her second goal from an assist by
Cassie DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood).
The Huskies closed out the scoring in the 62nd minute when
Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Sussex Technical) had an unassisted goal.
Bloomsburg goes to 5-0 with the win, while Mercyhurst goes to 3-2. The Huskies play at Slippery Rock on Saturday at 2 p.m.
