SLIPPERY ROCK—Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven) won her second straight race to lead the Bloomsburg University women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Mack Cooper Invitational at Slippery Rock University on Friday.

Davis trailed in the race going out conservatively over the first part of the course. With about a mile Davis surged and ended up cruising to a comfortable 15 second victory over a runner from Carnegie Mellon with a winning time of 22:36 for the 6,000 meter course. Two weeks ago Davis won the Bison Open at Bucknell to open her season.

Along with Davis, Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) was 13th in 24:07, while Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt) was 15th in 24:16 with Kelsey Harm (Boothwyn/Cardinal O'Hara) 17th in 24:39. The Huskies bunched their fifth and sixth runners in 19th and 20th places with Samantha Matthews (Windsor/Glenelg) finishing 24:42 and Lauren Lehman (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) running a 24:52.

As a team the Huskies were third with 65 points, while IUP won with 35 points. The Huskies head to the Paul Short Invitational next Friday at Lehigh.
