SLIPPERY ROCK—Senior
Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) scored two goals and
Betsy Renn (Herndon/Line Mountain) and
Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) each added two assists as the Bloomsburg University Field Hockey team beat Slippery Rock, 4-0, on Saturday. In addition, the Huskies defense limited The Rock to just one shot on goal for the game.
The Huskies would get all the offense they needed just 7:37 into the game when Riley scored off a Renn assist to put the visitors on top 1-0.
The scored stayed 1-0 until nine minutes into the second half when
Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) scored off a
Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) pass to put Bloomsburg on top 2-0.
Bloomsburg made it 3-0 in the 51st minute when
Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, DE/Sussex Technical) scored from an assist by Renn on a penalty corner. The Huskies closed out the game with a score by Riley in the 68th minute with Smith getting the assist.
The Huskies defense, led by starters Renn,
Becca Sherman (Milford/Delaware Valley) and Jacklyn Beasley, was dominant limiting The Rock to just one shot which came just 3:16 into the game. Slippery Rock also had just two penalty corners for the game.
Bloomsburg, 6-0 on the season, will host Millersville on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
