Field Hockey Downs Marauders, 4-0

Box Score

BLOOMSBURG—The number one nationally ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team improved to 7-0 on the season as they downed the number eight Marauders of Millersville, 4-0. With the win the Huskies improve to 2-0 in the PSAC East while Millersville drops to 4-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

The Huskies controlled the first half of play as play took place mostly in the Marauder's defensive half. Bloomsburg was able to fire four shots in the first half while not allowing a single shot by Millersville.

Jaclyn Beasley (Berlin, NJ/Eastern) broke a 0-0 tie as she scored on a penalty corner opportunity at the 13:08 mark. Junior Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood/Oley Valley) set up the play by delivering a pass to Beasley at the top of the circle; Beasley then took a rip at the ball, sending past the goalie to put the Huskies ahead, 1-0.

Neither team would score as the half closed out in favor of the Huskies, 1-0.

Thirteen scoreless minutes would go by in the second half before BU's Jenna DiSabatino (Mountain Top/Crestwood) gave the Huskies some cushion as she scored her fourth goal of the season. Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) would be credited with an assist for sending the ball towards the net, where DiSabatino cleaned things up for the score. Bloomsburg now led, 2-0.

The Huskies would pick up two quick scores to open the game wide open. Amanda Riley (Tannersville/Pocono Mountain East) notched a goal at the 58:47 mark as she chipped a shot over the goalie for the score. Kate Bruce (Dalton/Lackawanna Trail) was credited with an assist. Less than a minute later Simonovich picked up her third point of the afternoon as she buried a shot in front of the net on a pass from Brittany Mathews (Reedsville/Indian Valley).

Bloomsburg would carry their 4-0 lead until the scoreboard reached all zeros, leading to their seventh win of the season. Today's win marked the third time the Huskies have knocked off a ranked opponent this season. Bloomsburg has now outscored their opponents 30-3 on the year.

BU goalie Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon/Fleetwood) recorded a shutout as she made one save in today's contest. Credit both the Bloomsburg offense and defense as they held the Marauders to just two total shots.

Bloomsburg will look to make it eight in a row as they travel to take on East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East action on Saturday, September 24th. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
